We need to see that the victory of the Hindus was temporary. This is because the Islamic invaders again reached the Deccan and then the Hindus retreated south of Krishna, leaving the country in a state of temporary anarchy. However, this was only for a short time. The reign of the Sultan of Delhi was completely destroyed after three years, and, according to Firishta, on Friday, August 3, 1347, Ala-u-din Bahmani ascended the throne of the Deccan at Kulbarga, thus establishing a new dynasty that lasted for 140 years.
A few years later, Ala-ud-din Bahmani invaded and conquered Karnataka. Although the army returned with the loot, Firishta did not claim it as a decisive victory. However, he also claims that the new sultan extended his territory south of the Tungabhadra River near the fort of Adoni. Ala-ud -din died on Sunday, February 2, 1358, at the age of 67. His successor was Muhammad Shah. He was presented an invaluable gem by the king of Vijayanagar. It was set in a beautiful bird shape with stones. The sultan placed it on the canopy above his throne.
During the reign of Muhammad, the Hindus of Warangal and Vijayanagar melted the gold and silver coins of the Bahmani Sultans in large quantities and he executed them. Meanwhile, Bukka I, backed by his friend in Warangal, asked Muhammad to restore some area in his possession. As soon as the Sultan was not ready for war, he detained Bukka’s envoy for a year and a half and sent his own men to the court of Vijayanagar thus intimidating them.
In the end, they decided to go to war. Bukka joined the army of Warangal and Muhammad fought against them and plundered the capital. In the end, Muhammad decided to withdraw from the war after receiving a large compensation. However, peace in Warangal did not last long.
After a while, Muhammad was infuriated by some action of the king of Warangal and rushed to the town of Vellupattan in Warangal itself. When Muhammad reached there, he captured the people and killed them mercilessly, and captured the unfortunate prince, Vinayaka Deva. The sultan asked to burn a pile of wood in front of the fort, and loaded the prince on a machine like catapult; he then shot him into the fire thus burning him alive. After staying there for a few days, Muhammad’s army was hacked to death by a large group of angry Hindus. Only 1,500 people returned to Kulbarga alive .Sultan Muhammad received a severe gash in his arm.
